In 2022, statistics show that France, Germany, and Sweden were the leading countries in Europe for deporting people from outside the European Union (EU) and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA).

Deportations by the Numbers
According to the Eurostat database, France deported the most people in 2022, with a total of 14,240 individuals. That’s about 14% of all deportations across EU and EFTA countries. Germany was close behind with 13,130 deportations, accounting for 13% of the total. Meanwhile, Sweden had 10,490, which is 10% of the overall figure.
